Happenings in the Appaloosa  Horse Club

KANSAS STATE FAIR Show - August 30-31, 2008
On Saturday evening, August 30th, we will have all the futurity/jackpot classes, which include Kansas Appaloosa Sunflower weanling halter futurity, weanling NP halter, yearling halter, yearling lunge line, most colorful, 2 & 3 year old Western pleasure, and Open (KSHA) English pleasure, and Open (KSHA) Western pleasure, both open to all contestants – KApHC and KSHA.  All jackpot entry fees can be paid at the show.  Futurity entry fees are due by August 1st- (See entry form and sponsorship form under 2008 Sunflower Futurity)
 
 
  Carol Armstrong Tracy, an ApHC barrel racer from Kansas, grew up showing Appaloosas horses and won many awards, as well as World and National championships. Her son Cody was in a horrible 4 wheeler accident last week. He has a long uphill battle ahead, to be able to regain the use of his legs. He will be sent to Lincoln, Nebraska for a long time, and will have months of rehab. There has been a donation set up for Cody Tracy at Rose Hill State Bank, Rose Hill, KS 67133 Please show your support for this fellow Appaloosa horsewoman and her son. 

As you may know by now, Jean Martens passed away
Sunday at about 11:20 AM.at Hospice in Hutch.  
Elana(Scott'wife), Kristine and OJ were with her.
O.J. was called out of UV Church in time to be with her during her last few minutes.  She went very peacefully.

Funeral is at 2:00 at Union Valley Church  (30th and Halstead St., Hutchinson)  Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery.   
Her obituary is in the Hutchinson News - November 13.

Patricia King of Manhattan, Kansas has this news:

   I wanted to tell about the recent success of my mare, Tasy,

who placed third in the jumping division and first in Military Horsemanship (dressage) at the National Calvary Competition.

 
About Tasy: Her registered
                                    name is Strawman's Fantasy. She is a 1999 mare out of ZZ's Dazzlin Jewel by Strawman's Image. Her Dam is by Goers Zanzabar
                                    - a Registered Appaloosa out of Macho's Darlin by Macho Son who is a son of Abdull's Pok-A-Son. Her Sire is by Roman's Straw
                                    Man. We showed Strawman's Fantasy at KS State Fair in yearling lounge line and also the following year in 2 year old Western
                                    Pleasure. She has a LOT of Appaloosaness. She not only has the bloodlines, she has the all-around Appaloosa talent and disposition!
